Centricity Publishing writer Jordan Feliz is celebrating his first RIAA gold single with “The River”, his debut single released in 2016.
Jordan explained in a interview with Hallels.com just after the release of his first CCM album, Beloved: “The River” stems from John 7:38: “Whoever believes in Me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” The song is truly an invitation to everyone. To the person who feels they have lived their life by the book, or to the person who feels they have so much baggage and are ashamed to take it to Jesus. It’s the opportunity to go down in amazing grace and to rise up, being made new.”
Co-written with Josh Silverberg and producer Colby Wedgeworth (Hawk Nelson, Citizen Way), “The River” really hits home by reminding us of the simplicity of amazing grace and that “the emotional baggage we carry around doesn’t change the truth,” (quoted from Jordan in his NewReleaseToday Artist Profile). This approach certainly brought a fresh new sound in combination with Jordan’s R&B influences (such as Earth Wind and Fire, Sam Cooke, and The Commodores), essentially creating an entirely new Christian-pop sound that resonates with thousands of listeners.
